Teplá Monastery

The Premonstratensian monastery was founded as early as 1193. In its heyday, it had extensive property and great influence on events in the region.

Teplá Monastery

The monastery played a decisive role in the establishment of Mariánské Lázně. The preserved original parts of the monastery are a valuable example of Romanesque-Gothic architecture. At the turn of the 17th and 18th centuries, the monastery underwent significant Baroque modifications. The pride of the monastery is the wonderful monastery library, the second largest of its kind in the Czech Republic. More than 100,000 books are stored here, including more than 1,000 manuscripts.
