Loket Castle
Loket Castle is the dominant feature of the ancient town of Loket. The city got its name thanks to its location in the meander of the Ohře River, which served as its natural protection in the Middle Ages.
The town with the castle, the river and the surrounding forests create one of the most picturesque views in the Czech Republic. Loket Castle was founded in the 12th century and its history is full of stories about its conquest. Later, the castle was also used as a prison. It underwent extensive renovation in the recent past and is now open to visitors. The castle also has a museum.
